Nepal Earthquake Appeal

Posted on 6 May 2015 by Markku Ahtiainen

The powerful earthquake hit Nepal on 25th April 2015. Thousands of people have been reported killed and thousands more injured and without homes.

You can help.

The situation in Nepal has touched our hearts here at BARNA. Many of us have Nepalese work colleagues and/or have Nepalese friends. Their families in Nepal have been affected by the earthquake.

Here's how you can help the victims of the earthquake:

Make a donation by bank transfer to the British Anaesthetic Nurses Association's account: sort code 20-84-17 account number 00766275, please write "Nepal" as a message. BARNA will be handing over all the donated funds to the Nepalese Nurse Association UK (NNAUK) at the BARNA Conference on Friday 19th June 2015 in York.

UPDATE (24th JUNE 2015): BARNA has collected £250 for the Earthquake appeal and is donating the money to the NNAUK. The appeal still continues.

About NNAUK: (from http://nnauk.org)

Nepalese Nurse Association UK (NNAUK) is a London based association. They organise fund raising campaigns and cultural events in UK. Since its establishment in 2008, Nepalese Nursing Association UK has been representing Nepalese Nurses (general nurses, health care assistants, midwives and dental nurses) qualified in Nepal and UK. It is estimated that there are currently over 2000 nurses living and working in UK. Estimated eight to ten thousands Nepalese individuals in UK are directly related to nurses as their family members, which represents 2nd largest professional Nepalese community after Gurkhas.

Thank you for your help!
