Message from the chair: Summer 2015
I would like to take the opportunity of opening this message with a really big ‘thank you’ to all who attended the 29th BARNA Conference in York on 19th June 2015!
I must confess that leading up to the conference I was concerned as the delegate numbers were down on previous years, a worry for the treasurer especially, but needless to say, you did us proud!
However, any worry I had was swiftly put aside as soon as delegates started to arrive. It was such a pleasure to be with you all for the day. The mood was happy, friendly and above all interactive and fruitful. It was encouraging to have quite a few ‘first timers’ with us this year too.
It was a new concept to have the companies in the room with us which I think you will agree worked very well. They all praised each and every one of you for your interest and enthusiasm which made their presence so worthwhile and beneficial.
I am very grateful to the speakers too who made our conference a great day. They were all happy to be with us and I know they enjoyed the positive feedback they were having and the friendly interaction with you.
Thank you all for sharing this day with us and for the AGM – standing room only! That was a first for me and I really enjoyed the interactive meeting which was very interesting. You all made the day for BARNA and I am sure you will agree that we had a good day together.
Now we can look forward to the ICPAN conference 9 - 12 September this year which I am sure will be a great event and a wonderful networking opportunity for everyone involved.
Work for the WCNA 2016 is picking up the pace and the World Congress will be here before we know it. This is 13 – 16 May 2016 and as I mentioned during the BARNA conference this is a first for us and a massive achievement to be even hosting this event. I sincerely hope that many of you will be able to attend – remember, nothing is impossible! Start planning now and you could join in this once in a life time congress in Glasgow, Scotland in the lovely month of May 2016 at the SECC. The World Congress of Nurse Anaesthetists is perfect for all anaesthetic and recovery nurses, and any other allied health professionals who have an interest in this speciality.
There are exciting times ahead so let’s enjoy them together, carry on building on our achievements and move upwards and onwards as a stronger, worthwhile and purposeful association. Thank you all for your support to BARNA!
