Message from the chair: Winter 2017
As Christmas and the New Year festivities are fading fast we are looking forward to an exciting year which of course includes our 31stannual BARNA Conference and Exhibition.
Last year our conference was incorporated within the WCNA 2016 but we have now returned to our regular format. You may have noticed that we will be in Greenwich which is a beautiful location. The building was part of the old Royal Naval College so is steeped in history and regularly used for filming; some quite famous movies have been shot there. Opposite is Royal Greenwich Park which houses the Observatory, leading down to the Greenwich Maritime Museum where you can find out all you need to know about Lord Admiral Nelson, if you so wish. Why not make a weekend trip of the conference as there is so much to see and you are just a stone’s throw from the centre of London. A pleasant way to travel there would be by river taxi, which in the summertime is very lovely.
We have tried to make a varied programme dedicating one stream to paediatrics as we have had previous feedback asking for more of this speciality.
There will also be an exhibition where you will have the opportunity to speak with companies who will have interesting things to show you and you will have the chance to find out more and maybe take some good ideas back to your department.
I am sure that if you are preparing for your revalidation or want to learn more in the speciality of anaesthetics and recovery this day will be of great interest to you, and provide you with six hours of CPD points.
We would love to see you on Friday June 16th2017 in Greenwich, to share a full day of anaesthetic and recovery topics with us, paediatric and adult, plus learn more about our association with the PCC (Perioperative Care Collaborative) and the exciting plans for a perioperative course for nurses, theatre ,anaesthetic and recovery. Come along and find out more!
As always, the conference is a wonderful place to network with your colleagues, share your practice and discuss current issues which affect your daily life, good or bad. Sometimes it’s just encouraging to realise you are not alone, especially under the current pressure the NHS is facing.
We very much look forward to seeing you in June, please book early to avoid disappointment!
